Mahavir Janma Kalyanak Or Mahavir Jayanti is a Religious Jain Festival. It Is Celebrated To Mark The Birth Of Lord Mahavira. It Usually falls Within The Month Of March Or April. Lord Mahavira Was The 24th and Last Among The Tirthankaras. The Foremost Accepted Date For The Birth Of Mahavira Is 599BC.Mahavir Jayanti Commemorates The Teachings Of Lord Mahavira. He Was A Symbol Of Non-violence. He Showed Us The Path Of Right Faith, Knowledge And Conduct To Realize liberation. He Preached Non-violence, Honesty, Chastity And Detachment From Material Things. It Is Believed That The Mother Of Mahavira (Trisala) Had A Series Of Auspicious Dreams Before His Birth.

Lord Mahavira Is Said To Be The Founder Of Jainism And It Is Said That He Is The One Who Laid Down The Basic Principles Of Jainism. The Five Principles Of Jainism As Laid Down By Lord Mahavira Are : Satya Or Truth, Ahimsa Or Non- Violence, Achaurya Of Not Stealing Anyone Else’s Possessions, Bramhacharya Or Non-indulgence In Sexual Intercourse And Aparigraha Meaning Not Assembling Unnecessary Goods.

Lord Mahavira Was Married Initially But He Left His Kingdom To Seek Greater Truth And Attain Nirvana. Lord Mahavira Was A Kind-hearted Person And Had To Face A Number Of Hardships In His Life Before He Could Attain Nirvana. His Ears Were Pinned, A Vigorous Snake Bit Him But He Never Complained Because He Said That All Our Sufferings Are The Result Of The Pain Which We Once Gave To Others.

Lord Mahavira’s Saying Was A Lot Similar To The Sayings Like You Reap What You Sow And What Goes Around Comes Around. The Difference Is That Mahavira Insisted That We Have To Reap The Seeds Of What We Did In Our Past Life Also. All The Individuals Who Face Hardships In The Current Life Is Actually The Result Of The Wrongdoings Of The Past Life. If Today We Understand The Fact And Promise Ourselves That We Will Not Hurt Any Living Being In The Future, We Will Not Have To Suffer In The Future.

The Auspicious Day Of Mahavir Jayanti Is Celebrated By Jains All Over The World. Jains Visit Jain Temples, Perform Various Kinds Of Puja And Fast On This Day.  Lives Of Great Men, All Remind Us,

We Can Make Our Lives Sublime.

The Name Of Maharana Pratap Is The Crowning Glory Of Indian History. He Was The Rarest Of The Rare Jewels. We Can Never Forget. A Man From Shishodia Dynasty He Challenged And Bravely Fought Against The Great Mughal Empire.

Maharana Pratap Was One Of The Greatest Patriots Of Our Country. He Was Not Only The Pride And Glory Of Rajasthan But Also Of The Whole Country. He Was The Ruler Of Mewar. He Was The Son Of Rana Udai Singh And The Grandson Of Great Rana Sanga. Rana Was A Great Warrior, A Brave Rajput And A True Patriot.

Maharana Pratap Was Undoubtedly, The Bravest Soldier Of His Time. He Never Feared Of Death. He Fought Bravely Against The Mighty Army Of Mughals. He Stood Firm Like A Rock In The Midst Of All Dangers. He Had A High Sense Of Self-respect. It Was His Love For The Country That He Fought Against The Mighty Mughal Empire. He Sacrificed Everything For The Freedom Of His Motherland. He Never Surrendered His Freedom In The Hands Of Akbar.

The Life Of Rana Pratap Was A Long Story Of Sufferings And Difficulties. He Was Completely Defeated In The Battle Of Haldighati. He Had To Take Refuge In The Aravalli Hills With His Family And Some Of His Followers. He Passed A Very Hard Life There. He Wandered From Place To Place In The Hills. He Had To Sleep On The Ground And Eat Wild Fruits, Leaves And The Roots Of The Trees. Sometimes He And The Members Of His Family Had To Go Without Food. But Rana Remained Firm In The Midst Of All These Troubles.

After The Death Of His Father (Udai Singh), Rana Pratap Ascended The Throne. He Took A Vow To Take Chittor Back From Akbar. Once Man Singh Wanted Rana To Take Food With Him But Rana Pratap Refused To Take Meal With Him. This Made Man Singh Angry. Man Singh Told Akbar To Attack.

Rana Pratap Heard Of The Invasion. He Went With His Army To Haldighati. There The Rajputs And Mughals Fought A Hand To Hand Fight. Rana Pratap Led His Army. He Wore The Royal Helmet. He Was Mounted On His Famous Horse, Chetak. He Scattered The Mughal Army. He Attacked Salim Who Was Sitting On His Elephant. Such Fearlessness And Heroism Had Never Been Seen. Even His Enemies Praised Him. Soon The Tide Of Battle Turned. The Rajputs Were Defeated. Rana's Life Was In Great Danger. A Shishodia Chief Saw This. He Exchanged His Helmet With That Of The Rana. The Mughals Took The Chief To Be Rana. He Was Surrounded By The Enemies, While Pratap Escaped. In Fact, He Never Wanted To Do That. He Had To Do So Against His Will.

Rana Pratap Had To Go To The Aravalli Hills. He Remained There With His Family And Some Faithful Rajputs. Here Rana Suffered Many Difficulties. Sometimes, He Did Not Get Meal For His Children. But He Did Not Surrender. With The Help Of Bhama Shah, Rana Reorganised His Troops And Won Back A Part Of His Kingdom.

Every Indian Feels Proud Of Rana Pratap. Every Nation Would Be Proud Of Producing A Son Like Rana Pratap. He Is Cherished Even Today As One Of The Greatest Sons Of India By Historians And Laymen Alike. He Will Always Be Remembered As A National Hero.

Bakri-id, To Be Rightly Called Id-ul-Azha, Is One Of The Most Important Muslim Festivals. This Festival Is Observed And Celebrated As A Festival Of Sacrifice By Muslims All Over The World. It Falls On The 10th Of Dhul-Hagg. Bakr Eid Is Celebrated In Commemoration Of Abraham's Willingness To Offer His Only Son As A Sacrifice At God's Command. On This Day, Goats Are Sacrificed As An Offering. Bakri Eid Is Celebrated With Great Enthusiasm And Vigour Among Muslims. Men And Women Dress Up In New Clothes And Go To Mosques. They Offer Special Prayers Or 'Dua' For The Peace And Prosperity Of All Muslims. After The Prayer, Sacrifice Is Done. Muslims Greet One Another 'Eid Mubarak' And Share Their Warmth. They Visit Relatives And Friends And Exchange Gifts. Special Delicacies And Dishes Are Prepared And Served Amongst Family And Friends.

The History Of Eid-al-Azha/ Bakri Eid Dates Back To The Times Of Ibrahim. On The Day Of Bakri Eid, Muslims Observe Animal Sacrifice To Commemorate The Sacrifice Of Prophet Ibrahim (Peace Be Upon Him). Ibrahim Dreamt Of Being Commanded By God To Sacrifice The Person Dearest To Him To Check His Obedience. Ibrahim Decided To Sacrifice His Only Son Ismail Who Was Just 13 Years Old At That Time. When Ibrahim Revealed To Him About God's Command, He Was Surprised To See The Boy Not Defying The Fact Of Being Sacrificed. When Ibrahim Was About To Sacrifice The Boy, Allah Voiced Stating That He Need Not Carry Out His Order, As He Had Passed The Test Of Devotion. He Was Further Instructed To Sacrifice A Lamb Instead Of His Only Son. Ibrahim, By The Grace Of Allah Was Blessed With Another Son, Is-haaq (Isaac). The History Of Hajj Pilgrimage Revolves Around The Surrender Of Ibrahim And His Family To Allah. Bakri Eid Is A Celebration Of Ardent Faith Of The Believers In Allah And His Word Quran. It Is Recommended That The Sacrifice Is Made In The Name Of Allah.

Eid-al-Azha / Bakri Eid Hold Animal Sacrifice As One Of The Most Significant Aspects In Its Celebration. In Order To Honour The Event Of Ibrahim's Attempt To Sacrifice His Son, Muslims Commence Animal Sacrifice, So As To Conform To Allah's Command, And Allah's Mercy In Substituting A Lamb For The Child. A Goat, A Sheep Or A Cow Is Sacrificed According To The Laid Down Rules. One Third Of The Meat Is Retained For Family, While Another Third Is Distributed Among Friends And Relatives And The Remaining One Third Is Given In Charity For The Poor And The Needy. People Wear New Clothes On This Occasion. They Offer Their Prayers In A Gathering In An Open Area Called Eidgah Or A Mosque. People Engage In Animal Sacrifice, Performed Duly In Tune With The Religious Laws. Muslims Make It A Point To See That Everybody Becomes A Part Of The Eid Feast. They Chant Takbir Loudly Before And After Offering Their Eid Prayers; The Sacrifice Is Made And Distribution Of Meat Takes Place. The Sacrificed Animal Needs To Meet Some Certain Age And Quality Standards As Otherwise The Animal Would Be Considered Inappropriate For Sacrifice.

Bakri-Id, Also Known As Eid-al-Azha Is Extremely Important To Muslims And Thus, They Celebrate It With Great Zeal And Enthusiasm.

Muharram Is A Popular Muslim Festival. There Is More A Pensive Than A Rejoicing Mood Behind The Festival, Because There Is A Sad History Behind It.

The History, In Short, Is That Prophet Hazrat Muhammed Had Two Grandsons Called Hassan And Hussein. Hassan Became The Caliph Who Was Killed By Yezid. Hussein Fled To Mecca, Where He Was Also Killed By Yezid’s Men In The Battle-field Of Karbala. The War Continued For Ten Days. So The Muslims Observe The First Ten Days Of The Month Of Muharram As A Period Of Mourning In Memory Of Hassan And Hussain. The Festival Is Held In Honour Of The Said Two Dead Heroes.

Every Year The Young Muslims Take Out Large Processions With Tazias In The Streets In Order To Demonstrate A Mock Fight. They Carry Swords, Lances And Sticks With The Accompaniment Of War Drums. They Get Themselves Dressed In Black To Look Like Soldiers. The Crowds Are Sometimes Divided Into Groups Who Engage Themselves In Mock War (as It Took Place In Karbala). After The War, They Lament For The Dead And Beat Their Breasts In Sorrow, With The Cries Of “Hassan! Hussein!”, While A Rider Less Horse Follows Them. The Horse Represents Hussein’s Steed.

On This Day, The Muslims Offer Alms To The Poor And Feed The Hungry. On The Following Day, They Throw The Tazias, Which Represent The Tombs Over Hussein’s Grave Into The Water.

“MAY THE NEW YEAR FURNISH YOU WITH DEEPER FAITH

INCREASE COMMITMENT FOR AMAL IBADAH AND TAQWA TOWARDS ALLAH.

MAY ALLAH CONTINUE TO BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND YOU IN ALL YOUR EFFORTS AND GOOD DEEDS”.

Note: School Will Remain Closed On Tuesday 10th September On Account Of “Muharram”.

There Are Many Myths Related To This Festival According To The Customs And Traditions Of The People In Many Regions Of The Country. Diwali Is The Time To Meet And Greet Our Loved Ones, Prepare Delicious Sweets, Wear New Clothes, Redecorate The House And Worship Goddess Lakshmi. It Is Also The Time To Burn Fire Crackers. While All The Diwali Rituals Are Beautiful And Pious, Burning Fire Crackers To Rejoice The Day Is Not Appreciated Much. This Is Because It Adds To The Pollution In The Atmosphere.

Diwali Is Being Celebrated In India Since The Ancient Times. It Is A Day To Celebrate The Victory Of Light Over Darkness. This Is Because As Per Hindu Mythology, This Was The Day When Lord Rama Returned To His Kingdom Ayodhya After Staying In Exile For 14 Years. He Returned Victorious After Killing The Demon, Ravana And Freeing Sita From His Clutches.

The Effigies Of Ravana Are Burnt Across India On Dussehra Each Year. It Marks The Victory Of Good Over Evil. Diwali Falls Twenty Days Later. The Houses And Marketplaces Are Illuminated With Beautiful Diyas And Lights To Celebrate Diwali. Rangolis Are Made And Decorative Items Are Used To Enhance The Beauty Of These Places. People Decorate Their Houses After Cleaning Them Thoroughly To Welcome Goddess Lakshmi Who Is Worshipped On This Day. It Is Believed That Goddess Lakshmi; The Goddess Of Wealth, Only Visits Places That Are Clean And Beautiful.

People Visit Each Other And Exchange Gifts As A Part Of The Diwali Celebrations. Many People Host House Parties On This Day. It Is A Great Time To Bond With Our Relatives And Friends. Many Offices And Residential Societies Host Diwali Parties A Day Or Two Before The Festival.

Children Especially Look Forward To Burn Fire Crackers On This Day. They Gather Around And Rejoice The Festival By Burning Different Kinds Of Crackers.

Diwali Is An Auspicious Day. The Entire Atmosphere Is Filled With The Air Of Festivity And Joy Around This Time. However, It Eventually Fills With Pollution. The Fire Crackers Burnt On This Day Are A Complete Put Off. Burning Crackers Is Said To Be A Ritual On Diwali. People Burn Thousands Of Crackers In The Name Of Ritual On This Day Each Year. This Results In The Increase In Pollution Levels In The Atmosphere. The Sky Turns Hazy And The Consequences Are Harmful. It Gives Way To Many Health Problems. This Is Especially Unsafe For Asthmatic Patients, Heart Patients, Pregnant Women, Elderly People And Infants. It Is Difficult To Step Out On Diwali As Well As Days After The Festival.

The Burning Of Crackers Does Not Only Pollute The Air But Also Causes Noise Pollution. It Is Particularly Disturbing For Sick And Elderly People, Small Kids, Students And Animals.

It Is High Time We Must Behave As Responsible Citizens And Stop Burning Crackers To Celebrate Diwali Or Any Other Occasion For That Matter. We Must Celebrate Eco-friendly Diwali.

We Must Say No To Crackers And Advise Those Around Us To Do The Same. Parents Must Take This As Their Responsibility To Tell Their Kids About The Negative Repercussions Of Burning Crackers. Kids Must Also Be Sensitized About The Same In The Schools. This Will Help In Bringing Down The Fireworks On Diwali.

Diwali Is A Sacred Festival. We Must Maintain Its Sanctity By Celebrating It The Right Way. We Should Refrain From Burning Crackers Owing To The Harmful Effects It Has On The Environment That Ultimately Impacts Life On Earth.

Note:   The School Will Remain Closed From 23rd October To 9th November, 2019 On The  Occasion Of

“Diwali” And School Will Reopens On Monday 11th November, 2019.

Ambedkar Jayanti Is Celebrated To Commemorate The Noble Deeds Of The Indian Leader, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Ambedkar Was One Of The First Dalits In The Country Who Went On To Seek Admission In A College And Attain A College Degree. The Disrespect And Humiliation Faced At Different Stages In Life Since His Childhood Did Not Dither Him From Achieving What He Wanted In Life – Both Personally And Professionally. Ambedkar Continued To Study With Dedication And Became A Successful Economist And Indian Jurist.

Besides Working Impeccably Well In His Professional Field, He Also Went On To Become A Prominent Indian Political Leader And Philosopher. His Dedication And Continual Efforts Towards Helping The Dalits Attain Their Due Rights And Respect In The Society Is What Set Him Apart From Others So Much So That He Is One Of The Few Indian Leaders Whose Birthday Has Been Declared As A Public Holiday In India.

The Birth Anniversary Of Only Few Indian Political Leaders Such As Mahatma Gandhi And Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Is Celebrated With Such Great Zeal. Dr. Ambedkar Holds A Stature No Less Than These Great Indian Leaders. Just Like Gandhiji, Dr. Ambedkar Also Inspired The General Public And Motivated It To Work With Him To Fight For A Noble Cause. He Carried Out Several Movements To Bring About Reforms For The Backward Dalit Class In India. He Led Marches To Public Drinking Water Places As The Dalits Were Denied The Right To Draw Drinking Water From There. He Led Various Other Similar Movements For Right To Admission At Different Places. People Followed Him With Complete Trust And Still Look Up To Him As An Inspiration.

Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrations Are Done At Various Schools Mostly A Day Before The Jayanti. The School Management And Teachers Organize Small Events At School To Pay Respect To Dr. Ambedkar And Also To Inspire Students To Become As Knowledgeable, Strong Willed Yet Humble Like Him. The Idea Behind The Same Is To Acquaint The Students With The Struggles Faced By Dr. Ambedkar And How He Emerged Winner Against All Odds. This Is Usually Followed By Debate Competitions And Inter-house Quiz. Some Schools Also Organize Cultural Programs To Celebrate The Day. Government Schools, Where The Strength Of Dalit Students Is More, Are Specially Known To Host Such Events On This Special Day.

Ambedkar Jayanti Is A Day To Remember The Good Deeds Of Our Great Political Leader Who Also Happened To Be A Historian, Teacher, Writer, Editor Anthropologist And Orator. Above All, He Was A Noble Soul Who Did Not Only Rise And Shine But Also Helped Those Around Him Get What They Deserved.
